Apple Pie Oatmeal

This apple pie oatmeal isn't just for breakfast, you can enjoy it as a healthy dessert too! Use certified gluten-free oats as needed and enjoy the natural sweetener, raw walnuts, and delicious apple pie spices that bring this delicious oatmeal together.

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup diced apples (about ¼ inch cubes)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 cup rolled oats (option to use certified gluten-free oats)
  • 1 ¼ cup water

GARNISH

  • walnut pieces
  • additional diced apples
  • sprinkle cinnamon and maple syrup as desired

Instructions
 

  • Dice apples into ¼ inch cubes.
  • In a small, heavy-bottom saucepan, add rolled oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg and mix together. Add in the maple syrup, diced apples, and water and combine.
    Heat on medium-low heat for 7-8 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally with heat-safe spatula or chopstick to avoid sticking.
  • Decrease to low heat and keep covered for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Transfer oatmeal to a serving bowl, or two, and garnish with fresh diced apples, diced walnut pieces, and sprinkle with additional cinnamon and maple syrup to taste.
  • Enjoy with any milk of your choice, or Greek yogurt!
