In a saucepan combine 3 cups water, golden currants, craisins, cinnamon sticks, and orange peel.
Gently peel 3 pears, leaving the stems.
Place pears into liquid and heat on medium (level 4), covered, for about 20 minutes. Decrease heat to Low (level 1) for about 15 more minutes. Turn off heat and let sit with cover on for about 15 minutes before serving or transferring to the fridge. Keep pears with liquid and fruit if storing in fridge.
