Homemade Squeeze Pouch Fruit and Veggie

Squeeze pouch, applesauce, call it what you want, it's packed with nutrition and sweet deliciousness! Whether you're making this for kids or adults this makes a great snack any day of the week!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium sweet potato (once baked you'll use ½ cup)
  • ¾ cup sliced carrots (they will cook down and you'll want ½ cup steamed)
  • 4 cups chopped apples (unpeeled)
  • 6 tablespoon water divided (for steaming apples and carrots)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup cold water (for blending)

Instructions
 

Bake Sweet Potato

  • Preheat oven to 425℉. Wash 1 medium sweet potato and pierce it with a knife multiple time. Bake for 40 minutes. Once baked, set aside to cool. Once cooled, remove skin.

Cook Apples

  • In a medium saucepan add 4 cups diced apples and 3 tablespoon water. set to medium-low heat (level 3) and cook with lid on for about 10 minutes. Decrease heat to low (level 2) and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. You want them slightly soft but not mushy. Keep liquid.

Cook Carrots

  • Meanwhile add ¾ cups peeled and chopped carrots to a small saucepan. Add 3 tablespoon water. Heat on medium-low heat (level 3) for about 8 minutes. Decrease heat to Low and cook another 8 minutes. Drain liquid.

Blending All Together

  • In a blender add ½ cup of mashed baked sweet potato, ½ cup steamed carrots, and all of the cooked apples including the juice.
  • Add ¼ teaspoon cinnamon and ¾ cup cold water.
  • Blend all until smooth. Transfer puree to the fridge to chill before eating.
  • Options to use this puree in a reusable squeeze pouch for kids and adults, eat it with a spoon like applesauce, or drink it with a straw like a smoothie!
